As soon as we reached the Raghuwanshi mansion, I couldn't help but stare in awe. The place was like something out of a dream-massive, luxurious, and dripping with elegance. It was more than just a mansion; it felt like a palace. My thoughts wandered as I admired its grandeur, when suddenly my brother's voice pulled me back to reality.
"Chalen ander ki, yahi khadi rahegi?"
I looked over at him and rolled my eyes. "Han han, chalo," I said, giving him a playful punch on the shoulder.
We entered through the grand front doors, and I couldn't help but take in the beauty of the space again. The walls were tall, the hall was glowing with the soft light from the chandeliers, and the sunlight streaming through the windows gave everything a golden, ethereal glow. It felt as if I had stepped into a dream.
I got so lost in the opulence that I didn't realize the families were already greeting each other. When I finally looked up, I saw my mom standing beside a woman who was absolutely stunning. They were both smiling, and my mom's hand was motioning for me to come over.
"Sanvi, come here, beta," she called.
I snapped out of my reverie and walked toward them. Mom introduced me to the beautiful woman beside her with a proud smile. "Naina, this is my youngest, Sanvi."
I stared at Naina for a moment, captivated by her poise and grace. Inside, I couldn't help but think, Aunty mat bol, bhai wo kaha se aunty lagti hai tujhe?! My inner voice screamed, She looks like she could be my older sister!
But I smiled politely and said, "It's so lovely to meet you," my voice was soft and filled with admiration.
Naina returned my greeting with a warm, affectionate smile. "She's so beautiful, Swara," she said, patting my head like I was a little child. My inner girl squealed, Did she just say I'm beautiful?!
I blushed slightly but smiled back. She really is amazing, I thought to myself. There was something about her that made me feel instantly comfortable, like I had known her for years. She had that kind of warmth about her.
"Chalo, sabse milwati hu tumko," Naina said, taking my hand gently. "Let me introduce you to the rest of the family."
And just like that, I was swept along with her to meet the others-Dadu, Dadi, Tejas uncle (Naina's husband), Harshvardhan uncle, Nimrit aunty, and more of the Raghuwanshi clan. Each of them greeted me with such warmth that I couldn't help but feel at home, even though this was the first time I was meeting them.
After meeting the elders, I noticed that my brothers had already gathered with some people my age. So, I made my way over to them, eager to make some new friends.
"Hii guys, I'm Sanvi, but you can call me Sana," I introduced myself with a friendly smile.
"Hii Sana, I'm Ruhanika, but you can call me Ruhi," a girl greeted me with a cheerful smile. She was so sweet and welcoming.
"I'm Aayansh," a boy added, "It's nice to meet you, Sana." He said it politely, his smile genuine.
This family was full of good-looking people. I couldn't help but notice how attractive they all were-genetically blessed, for sure. We all stood around talking and getting to know each other, while the elders chatted about whatever was going on with them.
Soon, we moved to the backyard, where a beautiful setting awaited us-a large dining table with a perfect view. We all gathered around, enjoying the good food and even better company. I ended up sitting between Ruhi and Ishaan Bhai, who was my older brother.
We were all laughing and joking around, completely ignoring the fact that the guys-my brothers and Aayansh-were shaking their heads at us, clearly amused by how silly we were. But it only made us laugh harder.
Then, I heard Naina aunty calling out, "Mahir beta, aagye tum? Chalo, hum logon ne breakfast shuru kiya hai."
My curiosity piqued. Who else was here? I looked towards the door just as a tall figure stepped in, and time seemed to slow. He walked in with a confident stride, wearing a black suit that made him look absolutely gorgeous.
He was breathtaking. My breath caught in my throat, and I couldn't look away. I remembered a reel I'd seen recently that described a man like him-handsome beyond words, someone who could steal your heart just by walking into a room.
I think I just fell for him, I thought, dazed.
I snapped out of my trance when I heard a chair scrape, and then he sat down at the table, right across from me. He greeted the elders with a respectful nod and a bow to take their blessings. That gesture made my heart flutter a little. A well-mannered man-wow, I was impressed.
Then, he glanced at my brothers with a subtle nod of acknowledgment, but when his gaze met mine, his eyebrows furrowed ever so slightly. It wasn't obvious to anyone else, but to me, it was clear.
"This is Sanvi, Mahir," his Dadu said, smiling warmly. "Raghuveer and Swara's daughter."
I gave him a small smile and greeted him politely, but he simply nodded, his expression unreadable. It was a bit too formal for my liking, but I decided to let it go.
Everyone started eating, chatting with each other, and I continued talking to Ruhi, who explained Mahir's reserved personality. Apparently, he wasn't as cold as he seemed, and after a while, he'd warm up. That was a relief, because right now, he was a bit of a mystery.
What I didn't know was that while I was busy observing him, Mahir was already observing me.
